I have had the privilege of working in Catholic Education for almost thirty years holding numerous posts including Head of Religious Education, Leadership Team member, Deputy Headteacher, Headteacher, CSI inspector and most recently as the Deputy Director of Schools for the Shrewsbury Diocese.

As Director of Schools my role is to implement Bishop Mark’s vision for education and ensure that it is embedded in all his schools, trusts and academies throughout the Shrewsbury Diocese. I work closely with school and trust leaders and governors, northwest and national diocesan colleagues, the Department for Education, Local Authorities, as well as Ofsted and CSI colleagues to secure an authentically Catholic education for the 43,000 children who are members of our diocesan family of schools.

Carol Morgan
School Support Officer

Hello, I am Carol Morgan, and I was appointed as a School Support Officer in 2016.
I support primary schools in Shropshire, Telford & Wrekin, East Cheshire, and Warrington. Prior to this, I was a Headteacher of our Catholic Primary School in Newport, Shropshire and was a Consultant Leader then Local Leader in Education in Telford & Wrekin LA. I also deliver some of our Governor training and Induction, usually within Shropshire.
I have been a Denominational Inspector for our Diocese for many years.
Through my work for the Diocese, I have been fortunate to meet and work with many of our headteachers, staff and governors. The commitment and passion they demonstrate for our schools and their pupils and communities is exciting and humbling.

Jackie Walker
School Support Officer

I have worked in Shrewsbury Diocese since 1986 as a teacher, acting deputy, deputy, acting head, head and, recently,  a brief spell as an executive head.

I started teaching at few days after my 21st Birthday at Cheadle Catholic Juniors followed by many happy years at St Paul’s in Hyde. I was lucky enough to then become the deputy head at St Benedict’s in Handforth and since 2007 I have been in my spiritual home as headteacher at St James’ in Hattersley… not forgetting two terms with the lovely community of St Gregory’s in Bollington.

I have been RE coordinator in most of the schools I have worked in and am a church musician who enjoys a good sing! I am delighted to be working as a school support officer for the Diocese whilst still being a serving headteacher.

Kevin Platt
Acting Deputy Director of Schools and School Support Officer
Rob Hughes

I have been privileged to work for over 30 years in various roles in Catholic schools, both in Liverpool and in Cheshire. As a teacher, I specialised in Early Years and Key Stage 1.

Most recently, I was a headteacher for 21 years at St. Mary of the Angels Catholic Primary School, Ellesmere Port. For many years, I chaired the Diocesan Primary Headteachers Association; and was invited to join the Diocesan Schools Commission.

My current role is to provide a range of support to headteachers in over 40 primary schools across the Diocese. Additionally I deliver training to governors and staff; and any other roles which may arise, to support our close-knit Diocesan team.

For CCRS I collaborate closely with Fr Michael Coughlan, the course Coordinator. I liaise with the students and do the admin (form filling, finance and feedback) and Fr Michael oversees the timetable, delivery of the course and our tutors, as well as teaching several of the modules.
In my other diocesan role as Mission Secretary I work on the annual Ordo and Yearbook and speak to Clergy, Parish Secretaries and others to promote evangelisation initiatives. I also administer the RCIA (Rite of Christian Initiation of Adults) for those wishing to become Catholics in our Parishes.
Prior to coming to work for the Diocese I was employed in local government.
